GMID is the Global Meetings Industry Day.  It’s a day of celebration, education and advocacy of the industry that we all work in.  Scheduled for April 8, the Meetings Means Business coalition is asking all of us to join virtually to support  the three pillars that MMB stands for:  Personal Connections, Positive Business Outcomes and Strong Communities.  The coalition showcases the contribution meetings, conferences, exhibitions and incentive travel makes to society, medical and scientific breakthroughs and the global economy.

This year, more than any other, advocating for our industry is one of the most important things we can do.  The pandemic has devastated our industry unlike any other.  Global economies have been  horrendously affected due to business travel being completely closed down.  It is incumbent upon each of us to spread the word to our legislators how important the hospitality industry is to local, state, national and global economies.  Moreover, with the loss of face to face meetings, how many collaborations were lost, what discoveries have gone undetected and how much original research went undone?
